In economics, the concept of independence, particularly economic independence, refers to the ability of individuals, households, or countries to meet their needs without relying on external support.

For too long, we've let our independence erode by depending on other countries to meet our needs, rather than creating our own solutions for manufacturing, product development, defense, social media, and more.

In doing so, we've made ourselves vulnerable to exploitation.
